Septran DS
Septran DS (Co-trimoxazole) suspension 50ml is used in the morning and evening every 12 hours. It is commonly used to treat certain bacterial infections.
Package contains: Each package contains a septran DS syrup bottle with 50ml.
Composition
Each 5ml Contains:
Trimethoprim B.P 80mg.
Sulphamethoxazole B.P 400mg.
Indications
Acute uncomplicated UTI, acute otitis media, chancroid infection, nocardiosis, brucellosis (2nd line therapy), when used in combination with gentamicin or rifampicin, and during eradication phase.
Contraindications: Contraindicated in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to sulphonamides, trimethoprim, co-trimoxazole, or any of its excipients.
Severe renal insufficiency, infants during the first 6 weeks of life, patients with a history of drug-induced immune thrombocytopenia, patients with acute porphyria.
Warning and Precautions
- Share your medical history with your doctor before using septran.
- You shouldn’t use it if you are allergic to it or any of its ingredients.
- Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or breast-feeding.
Adverse reactions
- Headache.
- Nausea.
- Vomiting.
- Depression etc.
If any of these side effects occur so contact your doctor immediately.
Dosage and Administration
12 hourly (morning and evening)
Over 12 years | 2 teaspoonful | 10ml |
6-12 years | 1 teaspoonful | 5ml |
6months-5 years | ½ teaspoonful | 2.5ml |
Treatment should be continued until the patient has been symptom-free for 2 days the majority will require treatment for at least 5 days. Use only on medical advice.
Storage
- Store below 30°C in a dry place.
- Protect from light.
- Keep medicine away from children reach.
- For oral use only.
