Uses: It is used to prevent relapse of duodenal ulcers and for prevention and treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (a disorder that causes the digestive juices, foods, or fluids back up from the stomach into the esophagus).

Precautions: It is contraindicated in patients who are allergic to histamine and in patients with stomach cancer, moderate and severe kidney disease, and kidney failure. Consult your doctor before breastfeeding. Please consult your doctor when taking this medicine if you are pregnant.

Side effects: Headache, dizziness, constipation, diarrhea, nausea, rash, GI upset, abdominal discomfort, anorexia, fatigue, liver enzyme abnormalities, angioedema, arthralgia, and muscle cramp are some of its side effects. Reversible gynecomastia, toxic epidermal necrolysis, AV block.
