    FerFix-FA (Iron (III)-Hydroxide Polymaltose Complex + Folic Acid) chewable tablets are combination preparation containing iron and Folic Acid for the treatment of iron deficiency and the preparation of iron and folic acid deficiency before, during & after pregnancy (during lactation).

    Package contains: Each package contains 20 chewable tablets of 100mg+0.35mg.

    Composition: FerFix-FA

    Each film-coated tablet contains:

    Iron (III)-Hydroxide Polymaltose equivalent to elemental iron 100mg

    Folic Acid E. Ph 0.35mg

    Dosage: As directed by the Physicians or see the package insert for full prescribing information.

    The dose and duration of treatment depend on the degree of iron deficiency. The daily dose can be divided into individual doses or can be administered as a single dose. It can be swallowed or chewed and must be administered during or immediately after a meal.

    Indications Dosage Duration
    Latent iron deficiency 1 chewable tablet per day *The treatment must last between 1 to 2 months
    Manifest iron deficiency 1-3 chewable tablets per day The treatment required between 3 to 5 months before hemoglobin values is normalized. Afterward, the therapy should be continued with 1 chewable tablet
    Prophylactic therapy 1 chewable tablet per day As per directed by the physician

    In cases where hemoglobin values are below 9g/L, iron substitution must be used with a parenteral iron complex for more rapid effects.

    Therapeutic Indications:

    • Treatment of latent iron deficiency.
    • Manifest iron deficiency.
    • Polyphyletic therapy of iron and folic acid deficiency before during and after pregnancy (during lactation).

    Contraindications: it is contraindicated in patient

    • Who show hypersensitive to iron
    • With Iron overload (e.g hemochromatosis, hemosiderosis).
    • Who have disturbances in iron utilization (e.g thalassemia sidero-achrestic anemia and lead anemia)
    • Who have anemia not caused by iron deficiency (e.g hemolytic anemia or megaloblastic anemia due to vitamin B12 deficiencies)

    Pregnancy & Lactation: It should be used only be given if clearly needed. Its administration is unlikely to cause undesirable effects on the breastfed infant.

    Adverse Effects: The side effects reported are occasional gastrointestinal irritation such as the sensation of repetition, epigastric pain, nausea, constipation, and diarrhea.
