    Ipomalt-f (Iron Polymaltose + Folic Acid) tablet has a palatable taste. It does not irritate the gastric mucosa. It is free from radical formation and safest among all iron preparation.

    Indications: Ipomalt-f is indicated for:

    1. Treatment and prevention of all kinds of iron deficiencies.
    2. Iron deficiency anemia.
    3. Prophylactic therapy of iron deficiency.
    4. To cover the recommended daily dietary allowance (RDA)
    5. During pregnancy, lactation, and adolescents.
    6. Women capable of bearing children, and adults.

    Package contains:  Each package contains 3X10 tablets. It is also available in syrup.

    Composition: Ipomalt-f

    Each chewable tablet contains:

    Iron (III) Hydroxide Polymaltose Complex (MS) equivalent to elemental Iron 100mg

    Folic Acid (U.S.P) 0.35mg.

    Dosage:  As directed by the registered physician or see package insert for full prescribing information.

    Administration: Dosage and duration of therapy are dependent upon the extent of iron deficiency. The daily dose can be divided into separate doses or can be taken at one time. Ipomalt-f syrup should be taken during or immediately after a meal.

    Contraindications:

    It is contraindications in the following conditions:

    Iron overload (e.g haemochromatosis, haemosiderosis) or disturbances in iron utilization (e.g lead amnesia, sideroachrestic anemia, and thalassemia)

    Anemias not caused by iron deficiencies (e.g. hemolytic anemia or in case of megaloblastic anemia due to vitamin deficiency anemia)

    Hypersensitive to iron Polymaltose or Folic Acid.

    Special Warning and precaution for use: In case of anemia due to infection or malignancy, the substituted Iron is stored in the reticuloendothelial system from which it is mobilized and utilized only after correcting the primary disease.

    Pregnancy & Lactation:

    Reproduction studies in animals did not show any fetal risk. Controlled studies in pregnant women after the first trimester have not shown any undesirable effects on mothers and neonates. There is no evidence of a risk during the first trimester and possibility of a negative influence on the foetus is unlikely to occur.

    Mother’s milk contains iron bound to lactoerin. It is not known how much iron from the complex is passed into the mother’s milk. The administration of Ipomalt-f is unlikely to cause undesirable effects to the nursed child; During Pregnancy & Lactation, Ipomalt-f should be used on the prescription.

    Undesirable effects: Occasionally gastrointestinal irritations such as the sensation of repletion, pressure in the epigastric region, nausea, constipation, or diarrhea can occur. A dark coloration stool is of no clinical significance.
