Do not chew or crush this medicine. Klaricid is not recommended for children under the age of 12 years. Patients over the age of 12 can take medicine as prescribed by a doctor. In more severe cases, two tablets of this medication, each of 500mg, are recommended to take two times per day.
Uses: It treats localized infections because of mycobacterium kansasii, or mycobacterium fortuitum. Also treat lower respiratory tract infections like pneumonia and bronchitis, upper respiratory infections, skin, and soft tissue infections. Klaricid works by stopping the growth of bacteria.
Klaricid is composed of clarithromycin which belongs to macrolide antibiotic which works against acute pneumonia and respiratory disease. Though it treats bacterial infections, Klaricid will not work against viral diseases. For most infections, it will work within days but for skin diseases, it takes almost a week to show results.
This medicine also goes best for patients who are allergic to penicillin.
Side effects: Severe diarrhea and stomach or abdominal cramps can be the major side effects of this medication.
