Sotaxim (USP Specs) (Cefotaxime USP) injection for intravenous & intramuscular use only. It is used for different types of infections.

Dosage & Administration: Use as directed by the physician. For further details, see the enclosed leaf insert. Dosage & administration should be determined by the susceptibility of the causative organisms, the severity of the infection, and the condition of the patient.
For Adults and children: The daily dosage should not exceed 12 grams.
Directions for reconstitution: To reconstitute, add 2ml sterile water for injection in the vial. Use freshly prepared solution.
Usage: Sotaxim is indicated in the following:
Lower respiratory tract infections, Bacteremia/Septicemia, Skin and Skin structure infections, Intra-abdominal infections, Bone and/or Joint Infections, and Central nervous system infections.
Pregnancy: This drug should be used during pregnancy only if clearly needed.
Nursing Women: Cefotaxime is excreted in human milk in low concentrations. Caution should be exercised when Cefotaxime is administered to a nursing woman.
Contraindications: Cefotaxime is contraindicated in patients who have shown hypersensitivity to Cefotaxime Sodium, or the cephalosporin group of antibiotics.
Side Effects: it is generally well-tolerated. The most common adverse reactions have been local reactions following IM or IV injection.
Other adverse reactions that have been encountered infrequently are: injection site inflammation & pain, rash, fever, diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting.
Storage & instructions: Store between 15°C to 25°C. Protect from heat, sunlight, and moisture. Keep away from reach of the children. Reconstitution solution is stable for 24 hours when stored in a refrigerator (2-8°C) & protected from light. Discard the remaining portion after administration.
