Zinacef
Zinacef (Cefuroxime) injection 1.5g for IV use is manufactured GlaxoSmithKline GSK Specifications Pakistan Limited.
Each pack contains: Each pack of 1.5g of Zinacef injection contains three ampoules of sterile water for injection 5ml are also provided in the pack. It is also available as Zinacef tablet 250, 500mg.
Composition:
The vial contains:
Cefuroxime sodium equivalent to cefuroxime 1.5g.
Reconstitution Instruction:
For IV use:
Ad 15ml sterile water for injection to the vial to make a clear solution.
For IV infusion:
For short IV infusion, for example, up to 30 minutes), 1.5g may be dissolved in 50-100ml sterile water for injection.
The prepared solution should be used within 5 hours of reconstitution if stored at 25 degrees Celsius and within 48 hours if refrigerated. Do not freeze.
Usage: Cefuroxime is indicated to treat the following infections when caused by susceptible strains of the designated microorganism. respiratory tract infections, ear, nose, & throat infections, urinary tract infections.
Soft-tissue infections, gonorrhea, Prophylaxis against infections in abdominal, gynecological, cardiac & pulmonary surgery, where there is an increased risk of infection.
Side effects: As a precaution, renal function should be monitored if this is already impaired. Hypersensitivity reactions, including skin rashes, drug fever, and anaphylaxis, have been reported.
Transient pain may be experienced at the site of intramuscular injection. This is more likely to occur with higher doses. However, it is unlikely to be a cause for discontinuation of treatment.
Dosage and Administration: As directed by a physician. For further information, see leaflet. Store below 25 degrees Celsius and protect from light. Keep all medicine out of the reach of children.
