Duac
Duac Once Daily Gel Clindamycin Phosphate 1.28% w/w equivalent to clindamycin 1% w/w (10mg/g) Hydrous Benzoyl peroxide 6.67% w/w equivalent to anhydrous benzoyl peroxide 5% w/w (50mg/g) for the treatment of acne vulgaris.
Package contains: Duac Gel of 15gram. It is also available in 10mg Gel.
Composition
Clindamycin Phosphate 1.28% w/w equivalent to clindamycin 1% w/w (10mg/g), Hydrous Benzoyl peroxide 6.67% w/w equivalent to Anhydrous benzoyl peroxide 5% w/w (50mg/g)
Dosage & Administration: Use as directed by the physician.
Apply with fingertips once daily in the evening to the affected area. The affected area should be thoroughly washed, rinsed with warm water, and patted dry before application. For further details see information leaflet.
Patients should be advised that excessive application will not improve efficiency, but may increase the risk of skin irritation. Children: Duac is not recommended for children under 12 years of age.
Overdosage: Symptoms and signs
Excessive application of Duac may result in severe irritation. In this event, discontinue use and wait until the skin has recovered. Topically applied benzoyl peroxide is not generally absorbed in sufficient amounts to produce systemic effects.
Excessive application of topical clindamycin may result in the absorption of sufficient amounts to produce systemic effects.
In the event of accidental ingestion of Duac, gastrointestinal adverse reactions similar to those seen with systematic administration of clindamycin may be seen.
Caution: Avoid contact with lips, mouth, eyes, other mucous membranes, and damaged skin. Apply cautiously to sensitive skin. May bleach hair or colored fabrics. Do not use if hypersensitive to any of the ingredients. May take 4-6 weeks before the product is fully effective. Keep out of reach of children.
Storage Pharmacist: Store in refrigerator (2-8°C). Do not freeze. Patient: Store up to 25°C. Discard after 2 months.
