    Polyfax Plus

    Polyfax Plus is skin ointment and for external use only, it is used to treat skin infections.

    It is manufactured by: GSK GlaxoSmithKline.

    Package contains: A 20 grams tube of skin ointment.

    Polyfax Plus

    Composition:

    Each gram contains:

    Polymyxin B Sulphate B.P 10,000 Units

    Bacitracin Zinc B.P 500 Units

    Lignocaine B.P 40mg

    Dosage & Administration: After cleaning the affected area, a thin film of the ointment should be applied, once or more times a day, as necessary. Not more than 20 grams of ointment should be administered in any 24 hour period.

    Indications: In conditions where superficial infection along with localised pain is present or likely to occur such as accidental cuts, scratches, surgical incision, infected ulcers, and burns.

    Contraindications: Hypersensitive to any constituent or to cross-sensitizing substances.

    Warning and Precautions: Caution is required when applying the ointment to extensive areas as there is a possibility of systemic absorption of the active ingredients.

    Special consideration should be given to children when treating large areas. Should be applied carefully to patients with epilepsy, impaired cardiac conduction or respiratory function, and liver damage.

    Pregnancy & lactation: Potential benefits should be weighed against possible should be weighed against possible hazards to the foetus/neonate.

    Adverse effects: Allergic Hypersensitive reactions uncommonly occur. Possibility of systematic toxicity exists when applied to large areas of raw skin.
