Avil
Avil ( Peniramine maleate) is an antihistaminic and antiallergic syrup.
Package contains: The package contains a bottle with approximately 90ml syrup, & a leaflet. It is also available in the 25mg film-coated tablet.
COMPOSITION:
Each 5ml of syrup contains:
Pheniramine maleate B.P. 15mg
Methyl-4-hydroxybenzoate and Propyl-4hydroxybenzoate as preservatives (Parabene).
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION: Avil to be taken after a meal. This Syrup is particularly suitable for children. Children aged 1 – 3 years should receive half a teaspoonful two or three times daily.
children of up to 12 years,1 teaspoonful two or three times daily: adults and young people, 1-2 teaspoonsful of syrup twice or three times a day after meals. Maximum dosage 3mg/kg body weight/day.
INDICATIONS: Allergic diseases (urticaria, hay fever, angioneurotic oedema, pollinosis, mucous colitis, etc). Respiratory conditions associated with increased secretions. Itching skin conditions (eczema, lichen planus, acute and chronic urticaria, anogenital pruritus, pruritus in jaundice and diabetes, etc).
CONTRAINDICATIONS: Patients with hypersensitivity to pheniramine or any other ingredient in the formulation. Patients with symptomatic prostatic hypertrophy.
WARNINGS/PRECAUTIONS: Patients should be cautioned against the simultaneous ingestion of alcohol.
Due to the anticholinergic effect of pheniramine, caution and close monitoring are required if it is used in patients with conditions such as narrow-angle glaucoma.
