Prospan
Prospan (IVY leaves dry extract) 120 ml alcohol-free, sugar-free, no colorings cough syrup is manufactured by Engelhard Arzneimittel (Pvt.) Ltd and marketed by Route 2 Health (Pvt.) Ltd.
This medicine is used to treat secretolytic, broncho-spasmolytic, and cough relieving.
Each pack contains: Each pack of Prospan contains cough syrup of 120ml and an enclosed leaflet.
Composition:
Solution for oral use.
120 ml solution contains 0.84 g of IVY leaves dry extract (5-7.5:1). Potassium Sorbate (preservative), anhydrous citric acid, xanthan gum, flavouring, sorbitol solution 70% (crystallizing), purified water. 2.5 ml solution contains 0.963 g of the sugar substitute sorbitol = 0.08 BU.
Dosage:
Children below 6 years age: 2.5 ml 2 times daily, children 6 to 12 years age: 5 ml 2 times daily, children over 12 years and adult: 5 ml 3 times daily.
For children under the age of 1 year, please consult your doctor. A measuring cup is provided for accurate measurement of dosage.
Usage: This medicine is indicated for Catarrhal disease of the respiratory tract. It is prescribed by doctors to treat secretolytic, broncho-spasmolytic, and cough relieving.
Side effects: Nausea, constipation, dryness of mouth, vomiting, lightheadedness, and abdominal pain may occur as your body adjusts to the medication. Headache or flushing may also occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly.
Instructions: Shake well before use. Read the package insert carefully. Prospan cough can be used for 3 months. Store below 30°C. Protect from heat, light, and moisture. Keep out of the reach of children.
