This drug belongs to the Anti-Hypertensive category of medicines. The ingredients of this medicine include Candesartan Cilexetil which aids in controlling high blood pressure and hypertension.
The main purpose of Advant is to treat lower the high blood pressure and prevent heart failure arising. It reduces the death ratio due to heart attack and heart failure. The patients with left ventricular systolic dysfunction are recommended to intake this medicine.
It also helps in controlling hypertension and stress level in patients of age between 1 to 17. In adults, the medicine is usually recommended for cardiovascular disorders.
At the beginning, 2m to 16 is suggested, but with passage of time and condition of the patient, the dosage is increased till 32mg. The time and quantity of dose is prescribed by the doctor and patient must follow that.
Advant is suggested to take once or twice daily with total daily doses ranging from 8mg to 32mg. Most of the antihypertensive effect are seen within 2 weeks, and maximal blood pressure reduction is generally attained within 4 to 6 weeks of treatment with this medicine.
This medicine is available in film coated capsules only and hence taken orally. The dosage level is available in 8mg and 16mg.
Side effects of Advant in case of hypertensive patients include dizziness and headache. Minor effects reported in some patients include muscle pain, pharyngitis and rhinitis. In children, renal diseases were reported.
In case of Cardiovascular disorder patients, the adverse effects include rising in serum creatinine and serum potassium. Also a slight decrease in hemoglobin, and hematocrit are reported.
