Montika
Montika (Montelukast sodium) is manufactured by SAMI Pharmaceuticals (PVT.) Limited.
It contains the active substance montelukast, which is a leukotriene receptor antagonist that blocks substances called leukotrienes. Leukotrienes cause swelling and narrowing of airways in the lungs and also cause allergy symptoms.
By blocking leukotriene, montelukast improves asthma symptoms, helps to control asthma, and improves seasonal allergy symptoms, also known as hay fever or seasonal allergic rhinitis.
Uses: It is also used to treat adolescents and adults from 15 years of age who are not adequately controlled on their medication and need additional therapy.
Each pack contains: Each pack of 10mg contains 14 film coated tablets and each film coated tablet contains Montelukast Sodium USP equivalent to Montelukast Acid 10mg.
It is also available in the Package of 14 sachets of Montika (Montelukast Sodium) 4 mg.
Composition:
The major substance used in this medicine is Montekulast. Other ingredients include,
- Cellulose, microcrystalline,
- Lactose monohydrate 89.3mg,
- Low substituted hrdroxypropyl-cellulose E463,
- Croscarmellose sodium,
- Magnesium stearate
Dosage: For children 2 to 5 years old, 4mg chewable tablets are available, for children 6 to 4 years old, 5mg chewable tablets are available. Take Montika with or without food, as prescribed by your doctor.
The medicine can be chewed, however, if a patient cannot chew it properly, consult your physician. In case of breathing problems during exercise, take medicine at least two hours before your workout regime.
Side effects: The side effects of Montika tablets range from mild symptoms like dryness of mouth, muscular cramps, nausea to extreme symptoms like bruising edema, diarrhea, dyspepsia, and arthralgia.
Patients with hypersensitivity to montelukast should take medicine after consulting with their physician. As the usage of this, medicine might also result in anaphylaxis, restlessness, sweating, and headaches.
